A subjective view shot.

Noe, Gaspar - Enter the Void (2010) Point of View - the bathroom scene

The video I am interested in is the bathroom scene in Enter the Void by Gaspar. The whole video is in a dark and depressing scene, giving people a feeling between horror and fantasy. The point of view for the video is the man's point of view, like in a first-person game. The man's blinks and movements influence the camera, drawing the viewer into the half-real, half-hallucinatory scene the video tells of. In order to imitate the view of this video, I chose the subjective view shot as the shooting technique of my video.

Shooting a first-person main view video isn't as easy as I thought at first. Because I don't have something to hold the camera in my eye position, because if I had to keep one hand up on my phone to shoot, there would be no hand movement in the picture. As a result, I thought of many ways to hold the phone in front of my face, or let others help me shoot. However, let some others help me to hold the phone cannot immediately follow on my idea. Although it was difficult, I finally solved it, by using mask and tape, tied the phone to my face. As for the tone of the video, I chose to shoot this video at night, because just like the video I referenced, the dimmer scene can change the emotional expression of the video by changing the lighting.

As for the main body of the video, if only focuses on the action in the video, it is just an ordinary daily action. I also want to use an action which I am familiar with as the theme of my film. For a student, what I have been exposed to most is doing homework, but it is a little monotonous. In order to get closer to my daily life, I decided to select the process of my distraction when I doing homework and finally choosing to play games. To keep the environment real, I keep a pencil case facing on me, a phone at my fingertips, and comics ready to be pulled out. The movements and sequence during the shoot were virtually random, and I just acted out what I remembered I would do if I got distracted while doing my homework. Therefore, the action is different many times, In the end, I chose a video without noise and goof as my final work.
